Buying Tips

When buying a car, especially one you found online, safety is vey important. Be wary of cars that sound "to good to be true", because 9 times out of 10, they are. Never, ever pay any ammount of money before having met the seller and seen the car. You shouldn't ever have to pay a "holding deposit" on a vehicle. Rather take the risk of loosing out on the sale than loosing out on your money.

Be wary of sellers who only provide email information and no contact number. There are a lot of people on the internet looking to rip you off, so be careful!

Try find out the book value of a car before thinking about purchasing it. Check out www.book-value.co.za which offers a free book value calculator, as well as options to get a book value from a real life car dealer!

Also, find out about how much it costs to maintain and service a car before buying it. If your budget is R20 000, you probably don't have a lot of extra cash to fix the car when it breaks. Why are there so many cheap BMWs, Audis and Mercs for sale? Because once they are a few years old, they start getting seriously expensive to maintain.
